Melissa Barker received her BA from UC Berkeley in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2012. She is the current Associate Director of Student Engagement for the California Alumni Association. Melissa has been a long-time champion of higher education access, equity, and success for non-traditional students. She was an active Cal undergrad and served on the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs’ Student Advisory Committee. She also interned at the Office of Equity and Inclusion before heading to Sacramento to conduct policy research. Additionally, she worked with the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls before returning to Cal to take over the Student Engagement program. She got a Masters of Arts from Saint Mary’s College of California in Leadership Studies with a concentration in Social Justice.
