David Maldonado

Bio/CV: 

David Maldonado is a parent of Angelina, 13 and Lily, 9, and the husband and partner of Kimberley. Maintaining physical and mental health has, and continues to successfully help David manage the simultaneous demands of family life and the academic rigor of UC, Berkeley. With the support of his wife and life partner, family, 12 Step Recovery Program, and regular exercise, he is able to maintain a balance.

David earned his G.E.D. while incarcerated, and subsequently attended Berkeley City College before transferring to UC, Berkeley at age forty, where he earned his BA in Chicano studies. David is currently entering his final year of a two-year Master’s program in the Department of Education at UC, Berkeley: The Cultural Studies of Sports in Education. He is conducting his research at a boxing gym in Oakland, CA. After earning his Master’s, David plans to either pursue a PhD in education or continue his work with the formerly incarcerated.
