Class of 2020: Great Grandmother graduates from Cal (KTVU)
An inspirational student parent, near and dear to us, gratuated from UC Berkeley in May 2020 at the age of 67! What other ways but this to say that it is never too late to pursue an education?

Meet Delores Orr, age 72 as of 2020. She graduated from Cal in 2018 at the age of 70 and is part of a growing number of old higher education students.
“Most college students are under 25. But a growing number come to campus with more life experience.” The Re-Entry Program allows these undergraduate students over 25 to come together as a community and gives them the resources needed for a smoother journey through college. OWLs (Older Wiser Learners) is an informal group branched out from the Re-Entry Program allowing these students who are 25 and older to meet each other and communicate, bonding through their experiences as older wiser learners in a space where their younger counterparts are the majority.

Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, Student Parents have been working on a student lead initiative at the UC Village simply known as the Food Donation Program. Despite the pandemic, our student parents continue to actively build up resources for other student parents and community members impacted and uprooted by Covid-19. This includes partnering with the University Village Recreational Center's Bear Pantry to offer free fresh and shelf stable groceries to community members who have trouble accessing the Food Pantry on the Cal campus.
