Thank you for your interest in supporting the success of student parents at UC Berkeley! Help us continue “Delivering the Promise of Berkeley” through services, programs, and resources geared towards the unique needs of the Student Parents we serve. Your gift will help ensure that future generations experience the transformative power of a UC Berkeley education with the support that empowers them to achieve.
Gifts of any amount may be directed to the Student Parent Center and will be used to directly assist student families in meeting their financial needs and educational goals.
The Student Parent Center is determined to alleviate the cost of living in the Bay Area for student parents. Rent is a major hurdle to academic success, with many students exhausting the available amount of student loans allowed in a year to cover costs. Donations will will support low-income student parents with $300 housing grants.
At every level of educational achievement, from high school through PhD programs, becoming a parent can pre-empt and ultimately preclude educational opportunities. The Student Parent Pipeline Project supports student parents at critical junctures, from admission to preparation for graduate school & professional careers, providing advising and mentoring to eliminate barriers and foster achievement. Your gift will provide one-time grants for transitional expenses, for example family moving expenses, or fee grants for graduate and professional school exams.
For some low-income student parents, reliance on the library system and computer labs is the only way they can complete their assignments and readings. Donations to this project will fund the addition of several laptop computers, the necessary hardware and software, as well as fund the only family-friendly printing services on campus.
With a gift of $50,000 or more, you may establish an educational legacy in your name, or in honor of a professor, colleague, mentor or family member. The principal of an endowment is held intact in perpetuity and invested for growth to provide a steady flow of income to support your designated purpose.
